How do I find current year AGI to calculate my modified adjusted gross income or just find the MAGI directly to confirm eligibility for Roth IRA contribution?

Your AGI is listed on your 1040 line 11.

From there you need to make the calculation.

So not to sound completely inept but I don't know how to get to 1040 line 11 in turbo tax to find that out?

Ok, so I have to wait until I go through everything and cannot view a current AGI based on the information already on hand.  This is not the most useful.  Would be really nice to see a current AGI so you could more easily optimize without having to go all the way through all the clicks.

You can preview the Form 1040 during preparation using the following steps:

In the left menu column click on TAX TOOLS, then in the submenu click TOOLS.

In the Tools window choose View Tax Summary.

There you can review the Tax Summary, then while that is still open, go to the left menu column and under Federal choose "Preview My 1040."

Your AGI  at the "Preview My 1040" is only a snapshot in time and will be subject to change as you continue to enter items into your return and answer interview questions..
