Does anyone's data get wiped out? Yesterday all my data disappeared. When I logged in, I was taken to the beginning and refunds are back to 0.

You may have a duplicate account and accidentally have logged into a new account that is not connected to last year's details.

This article helps: How many TurboTax accounts do I have?

The page linked in your reply was a tax help generic page. At any rate, I could not have a duplicate account as this if the very first time I"ve used Turbo tax. I have entered most of my 1040-related data and was getting near the end when I got an "install update" query. I installed the update and everything I had entered over several hours was gone - even from "recent activity".

If you log out of your TurboTax account and then log back in, your information should reappear.

However, if this does not resolve your issue, please click the link to contact TurboTax customer support.

@mfryburg2

"install update" ?   And you installed it ?

That only happens if you are using the Desktop software.

You do not log into the desktop software you just start it up on your desktop.

THIS question ((Up top))  was originally posted for someone using "Online" Premier....and answers were based on people using the "Online" software

Not to say it isn't possible for a file to disappear from the Desktop software after an update, but it is quite rare, and is usually only mis-placed.

Never save your file directly to a flash drive, a usb-connected external drive or a cloud drive.....only save it directly to your hard disk, and copy-paste it from there to whatever backup drive you want to keep an extra copy....but the working copy must remain on your main system hard drive.

Use your file manager to look for all files " *.tax2020  "to find it.

Yes, the same just happened to me! The Turbo Tax program wanted to update and that's when everything obviously went back to ZERO and I have to start all over. I was completely done a several weeks ago and now all I had to do was file, but instead I'm completely frustrated that I have to start all over!
