Turbo Tax will not allow me to continue filing my taxes after filling in information for VA and MI. I chose that I made income in VA, and did not reside there (because my permanent address is in Michigan.)
I drove for Uber in Virginia and received a 1099. I did not get taxes deducted from the income I received.
You may need to clarify where you are getting stuck at in the interview, filing interview or review? Are you seeing error messages or reject codes? It sounds like you are on the right track by indicating you earned income in another state (non-resident VA) with MI as your military resident state. With more information someone may be able to get you going again.
I went through both my Michigan and VA tax profiles (resident and non-resident states) and after going through them, i would get an alert that I had to complete my non-resident taxes first. I logged out and logged back in and was able to finalize.
I got feed back quickly saying my VA and federal taxes were accepted, but I haven't seen anything avout Michigan. Should I be concerned?
You can sign into TurboTax to check on Michigan and be sure it was filed. Some of the states take longer than others to verify the return is accepted. Please sign in and click on Tax Home on the left menu bar.
You should see the status for your federal or any state returns but may need to click on the blue See all my returns on the right, if you have multiple states.
Here is a link to a TurboTax Help article where you can track your state refund. Track State Refund
This is an image of a return that is ready to mail and the state is begun but if the e-file is accepted, it will be noted here.
