After you file
It is possible that your tax return was either from TurboTax CD/Download not bought directly at TurboTax.com or that a different account username was used.
It is also possible that it was completed, not e-filed, and not submitted at all.
Please check the print out for any directions to mail it in. I suspect that the return was set to paper file, not e-file. If you thought it was done and e-filed, you would not have mailed in the Federal and State returns, and the IRS and state would therefore not have any record of it.
What to do:
- Mail in what you have for 2019 according to the directions on the cover page from TurboTax.
- Mail the IRS your federal return.
- If you have a state filing requirement, you will need to send the state tax return separately.
- File the 2020 tax return if it will not be impacted by the 2019 filing. Use $0 for the 2019 Adjusted Gross Income because there is nothing on file.
- What would impact 2020 from 2019?
- If you itemized your deductions
- If you had net operating losses that carried over to 2020
- What would impact 2020 from 2019?
