Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Income earned as a poll worker is taxable and entered on Line 8 (Form 1040) as Miscellaneous Income.

 

  • If you're required to file an income tax return, generally, any amount included in your income is taxable unless it is specifically exempted by law. Income that is taxable must be reported on your return and is subject to tax. Income that is nontaxable may have to be shown on your tax return but is not taxable.

 

To report one time non-wage income received, enter it as follows:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax and select Take me to my return.
  2. On the TurboTax left navigation bar, select Federal.
  3. On the top of the page, select the Wages & Income tab.
  4. Scroll down to Less Common Income, select Show more.
  5. Select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, Start/Review.
  6. On the next page, scroll down to Other reportable income, Start.
  7. On the next page enter a description and the amount.

The amount should appear on Form 1040, Line 8, Other income. To see Federal form 1040, line 8, How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?
