Form 1098 (Mortgage Interest Statement) shows how much mortgage interest, points, and (often) real estate/property tax you paid in the previous year.

If you didn't get a Form 1098 from your mortgage company by early February, you might be able to find this information on January's mortgage statement. Contact your lender if you need help understanding Form 1098 or think that any information is missing.

To enter your 1098 in TurboTax, select your product below and follow the instructions.

TurboTax Online or Mobile

  • Open or continue your return.

  • Go to 1098.

  • Answer Yes to Did you pay any home loans in 2025?

  • On the Let's get your 1098 form screen, enter the name of your lender to see if you can import your 1098.

    • If you can't or don't want to import, select Change how I enter my form to upload, take a picture of, or manually enter your 1098.

  • Continue through the screens until your 1098 is added.

TurboTax Desktop

  • Open or continue your return.

  • Search for 1098, select the Jump to link, and select Add/edit Form 1098.

  • Answer Yes on the screen Did you pay any home loans in 2025?

  • Continue through the screens until your 1098 is added.

What if I don't have a 1098 mortgage interest statement?

That's OK. You can get your mortgage info by going to your lender’s website. Other documents, like your monthly mortgage bills and your Closing Disclosure (or HUD-1), will also have some of this information.

Your lender should send you a 1098 by January 31. If you haven’t received one by then, contact them for the information you need.
