You can claim your student loan interest without form 1098-E. You can find the amount of interest paid on your year-end statement and enter that amount to get a deduction. Please follow the directions below to input your student loan interest into Turbo Tax Online.

  • Sign in to your account.
  • Click take me to my return.(unless already in return)
  • Click my account, at the top of the page.
  • Select tools in the drop down menu.
  • Click topic search, type in student loan interest and click go.
  • On the next screen that says, "Did you pay any student loans in 2016?", answer yes.
  • On the next screen enter the name of your lender and the amount of interest you paid.
