I paid my son's college tuition for Sp 2018 however I received his 1098-T and box 1-2 were blank. Are schools not required to report our payments on the 1098-T anymore

Schools are required to report your payments by IRS.  I am not sure why they did not do so.  But no worries as we have a workaround in the program.

Here are the steps:

  • Sign into your account and select Take me to my return
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in 1098t and Enter
  • Select Jump to form 1098T
  • On screen, "Do you want to enter your higher education expenses?" answer Yes
  • Follow prompts
  • On the Form 1098-T replica screen, under Box 1, click on " What if this is not what I paid to this school?"
