How can I fix this? I did not qualify for Credits this year, but I cannot finish using Turbo Tax free edition because it says I do - Lifetime Learning Credit.0$ in credit

I was in school last year, but did not qualify for any of the school credits - it says so too. But when I go to finish, it says I need to upgrade and pay bc it is no longer a simple return, because I have a lifetime learning credit. I went back and checked, 0$ for both of the school credits, because I didnt even qualify. Is this a bug? how can i get around it?

If you don't qualify for the Lifetime Learning Credit,  or want to eliminate it, you'll have to delete the forms that are related to education credits.

If you see form 8863 and form 1098-T, delete them. Click here for instructions

Delete Form 8863 from your return and then try to file again.   You may need to go back through the education (1098-T) section and delete any expenses you entered.    If you have 401K contributions on your W-2, you might be qualifying for the Saver's credit and that requires an upgrade as well.   Do you have Form 8880 in your return?
