Hi, I can be claimed as an independent, but I do not want to be. I pay most of my expenses. My 1098t tuition expenses box is whited out and unavailable to enter a number.

If you are being claimed as a dependent on someone else's return, you can't claim education expenses. TurboTax won't let you enter your 1098-T Tuition form.

 

If you're claiming yourself (as an independent), make sure you enter that no one can claim you as a dependent, in the TurboTax Personal Info section.
