I supported myself in 2019 and was enrolled full-time. When I get to the section that *should* allow me to input my 1098-T form (as I've done easily in previous years), the amount listed for "Tuition and enrollment fees" is $0 and I'm unable to change this.
All I'm able to list is books and materials that are or aren't required to be purchased from my school, but there's nowhere that allows me to input my tuition fees. I have triple-checked that all of my previous information is correct, so I have nowhere else to go with this question.
I am having the same situation. I have cleared my tax return and started over to see if I selected the wrong options to enter my tuition amount, but it still doesn't let me change the tuition from $0.
Type '1098t' in the Search area, then 'Jump to 1098t'. It could be you missed the question asking whether you had one or not.
Click the link for more info on How to Enter a 1098-T.
Remember, the amount in Box 1 must be greater than the amount in Box 5 to qualify for an Education Credit.
Hello,
I typed in the search "1098t" and clicked on "Jump to 1098t" but it took me straight to a page that says, "Now Let's Gather Your Additional Education Expenses" which does NOT allow you to enter your tuition.
I am not a dependent and I am the student.
Please advise.
Start by going to the Education section of your return using these steps:
Then, if you are not prompted to enter your 1098-T, go through the entire education expenses section of your return until you reach the screen titled “Your Education Expenses Summary”, then follow these steps:
