Where do I enter Form 1098-T (Tuition Statement)?
Here's how to enter your 1098-T in TurboTax Online:
Open or continue your return.
Navigate to Form 1098-T:
TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1098-T.
TurboTax Desktop: Select Search Topics. Search for and select Form 1098-T.
First, fix your reject. When you're done:
Open or continue your return.
Navigate to Form 1098-T:
TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1098-T.
TurboTax Desktop: Select Search Topics. Search for and select Form 1098-T.
Your return has been accepted, so you'll need to amend if you want to enter your 1098-T info.
To amend:
Go to Your tax returns & documents, select 2025, and then Amend (change) return.
Select Amend using TurboTax Online.
Follow the screens to enter your 1098-T and file your amended return.
You don't need to amend. You can just add your 1098-T and reprint.
Go to Your tax returns & documents.
Select 2025 and then select Add a state (you're not actually adding a state, this just gets you back into your return).
Select Search and enter Form 1098-T.
Select Jump to form 1098-t.
Make your changes and reprint.
We can't take you to the 1098-T section right now, because your return is pending.
Once the IRS has processed your return, you can sign back in to enter your 1098-T.
Here's how to enter your 1098-T in TurboTax Desktop:
Open or continue your return.
Select Federal and then Deductions & Credits.
Select I'll choose what I work on.
Under Education, select Start or Update next to Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T).
Follow the screens to enter your info.
Some important tips about entering this form:
Enter your 1098-T exactly as is, even if the amounts are wrong (this is common). You'll get a chance to correct this info and enter additional expenses later on.
Leave blank boxes blank. Don't enter 0 for any blank boxes on the form, as this generates errors.
Parents: If the student listed on the 1098-T is your dependent, enter the 1098-T on your return, even if your dependent paid the tuition.
Students: If you're not being claimed as a dependent, enter the 1098-T on your return regardless of who paid the tuition, unless it was your employer. In that case, just keep the 1098-T with your tax records.
