If you haven't already submitted your return, and you input the wrong amount for the stimulus you received in the TurboTax Online program, open TurboTax back up, type stimulus into the Search box and enter. Then, if you'll click the link Jump to stimulus, you'll be prompted to enter your amount(s) again.
If you've already submitted your return via e-file, wait to see whether or not it's been accepted by the IRS.
- If it's rejected, you can change your return to reflect your proper stimulus.
- If it's accepted, then, if you're getting a refund on your return, wait to see what amount you get back. If it appears that it reflects the change you wanted to make, the IRS has adjusted your return, and you'll get a letter from them explaining the change. If you're not getting a refund, the IRS will also send you a letter explaining any change to your return. You won't need to amend your return. If the IRS doesn't correct the change you wanted to make during the processing of your return, you should amend your return to change the stimulus amount you received.
