example first check was supposed to be 600 for me and 600 for my wife. Turbo tax says it should be 2400 for the both of us. The second stimulus check is suppose to be 1200 each and the both of us would be 2400 and it says 1200. The only issue it say I should get a credit for the first.
You are the one who has it backwards. The first stimulus checks which were sent out in 2020 were for $1200 for each spouse and $500 for dependent children younger than 17. The second ones--which were sent out at the very end of 2020 or early in 2021 were for $600 per person.
You should look at your own banking records for the direct deposits if you do not know how much you received for those stimulus amounts.
Actually, the first stimulus payment for those eligible was $1,200 each for a taxpayer and spouse, or $2,400 for the both of you.
The second stimulus payment for those eligible was $600 each for a taxpayer and spouse, or $1,200 for the both of you.
@xmasbaby0 is correct.
To do this in TurboTax, follow these steps:
For the most recent IRS updates, see:
Recovery Rebate Credit Frequently Asked Questions | Internal Revenue Service
For more information about the third stimulus, see: How will the third stimulus impact me?
Thanks I had it backwards. Didn’t go back to the first.
I had the same situation. I don't think you had your information backwards as suggested by the two the replies. My amounts for the 1st and second stimulus payments were reversed as shown on TurboTax when it displayed the stimulus amounts. My amounts and dates were verified by my bank deposit records. The first payment was $600 per individual and the second was $1400 per individual (should probably have been $1200). I had to reverse the amounts shown for the 1st and 2nd payments to avoid TurboTax from calculating a $1200 credit, which would have been incorrect. I am not sure how many TurboTax users have this problem, but I did.
I was not able to find any other similar posts concerning this on the internet, but I suspect others may have this same issue. I would appreciate a response if you have had this issue and the action taken to correct it.

Three stimulus payments had actually been received ( I thought only two had been received)
and I had confused the 2nd and 3rd payments with the 1st and second stimulus payments.
The first and second stimulus payments are the ones to be used on TurboTax when filing your 2020
tax return. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
