How do I get my AGI if I don't have a prior year tax return?
If you don't have a prior year return to find your previous year’s AGI, you have a few options.
Get your transcript online
Order an online transcript of your return at the IRS Welcome to Get Transcript site.
On the IRS transcript website, select Get Transcript Online.
Once logged in and security questions answered you will be immediately given access to your transcript.
Get your transcript by mail
Order a printed transcript of your return at the IRS Welcome to Get Transcript site.
On the IRS transcript website, Select Get Transcript By Mail.
Once logged in and security questions answered you will receive your transcript within 5 to 10 calendar days at the address on file.
Print your return and send it in by mail if you're still having problems getting your adjusted gross income (AGI) from last year.
Note: If you didn't file last year and you’re in TurboTax, just make sure to indicate that when asked. If you've already entered a number for your AGI, manually enter “0” instead.
