Why was my routing number wrong?
I entered my routing number and account number and TurboTax recorded it as all X's and sent it to the IRS. Payment was denied. e.g. Routing number XXXXXXXXX, Account number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX with no check in either Savings or Checking. TurboTax customer service thinks I entered 17 X's for the account number.
Really?
no that's how turbotax has always printed your tax returns if you e-File.
customer service needs to be ejumicated.
Not for me it hasn't. I looked at 2 other years and TurboTax included ALL of the information on my 1040 when I downloaded the PDF.
Hello,
I am facing the same issue. I entered the correct account number and routing number, but when I downloaded the return it was showing as XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Past pdf return was showing correctly. What happened in your case? Did you refiled it or you got a check?
Thanks
Surendra

If this is for a direct deposit of a tax refund, the routing and account numbers will be x'd out if you download the tax return before the tax return has been accepted by the IRS.
Thank you. My federal return was accepted on 02/03/2020. Today also I am unable to see the account number and routing number on the downloaded return (downloaded it few mins back). Any thoughts will be appreciated..

Try downloading from Print Center instead of from the Tax Home web page.
Sign onto your TurboTax online account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down and click on Add a State. This will take you back to the 2019 online tax return.
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Then click on Print Center. Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.
@DoninGA: You are a genius. This is what I was looking. I found the numbers I entered.. Thanks so much...
Also, in the print center, you may choose to print all worksheets and schedules. This will show the detail of all calculations along with the routing and bank number entered for deposit or debit.
I have follow everyone step as you stated. I see my routing and account number on the turbo efile instruction (first page). But on 1040 form is still showing my routing and accounting number are xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
why is that? Will IRS know my direct deposit info?
Yes, they will know your direct deposit info. For security reasons the numbers have been X'd out. To review previously-entered bank account info, revisit the File section in TurboTax.
Nope. This did not work for me. Still shows X's. I am not owed a refund. Could this be the reason for X'd out?
I need my routing info to get into IRS in order to receive Stim Check
Should I amend with the 8888 form?

If you are not receiving a federal tax refund then the boxes for routing and account numbers are all X'd out on the Form 1040 since there is no direct deposit for a refund.
Use this IRS website for stimulus payment status and to update your bank account - https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payments
Mine did too. I also have a message with two pages about a turbo tax card. Like a loan. I didnt change anything though from my last year income tax.
@allyguer1115 This is a thread from last tax season. Do you have a specific question we can assist you with?
For 2021 returns. Mine is showing all X's too. We had our federal payment scheduled to be taken yesterday and it is not. How can I verify bank info? Thanks in advance.
If you print a copy of your e-filed returns, the bank routing number and your bank account number will be "XXXXXX'd" out as a security measure.
There isn't any good reason to have that information floating around on a piece of paper where it isn't needed.
If you choose to print and file your return by mail, the information will be displayed. This is another reason why e-filing is a safer method for submitting your return - it avoids having your name, social security number, address and banking information traveling cross-country in an envelope.
The time to verify your bank information is when you enter it, immediately before e-filing.
