Why am I unable to get my 2018 return PDF once I finished my return?

Solution is  to change the extension from ".txt"  to ".pdf" after it has been downloaded.

OR switch to a different browser to download it.

So far, I've only seen this happen when downloading a PDF using the Edged browser...hasn't been a problem on IE11 or Chrome  or FireFox (well, haven't heard that it occurs on those other browsers  yet)

See the info in this TurboTax FAQ.  You "may" need to wait until the return has been accepted before printing.

I have gone there and when I do it downloads a .txt file that is total garbage.  I have Adobe on my computer so a PDF reader is not the issue. Is there something wrong with the download link?  In previous years once you where done filing it gave you the option to download on the spot. Why did it not do this, this year?

@slwedge71 I'll report this issue to TurboTax Moderators for investigation.  Thanks for reporting.  Either I or a Moderator will post back here to let you know what's up.

This is a Microsoft Edge browser problem, and has nothing to do with TurboTax.   Google for "ms edge .txt" and yiu will find all kinds of reports if this.

Even the Microsoft forum is full of them.

So what your saying is to use Chrome or Firefox?

...OR......IE11, or Safari, or just manually change the extension on the file after you download it...what is contained in the file is actually layed out in proper PDF format...the extension on the file is just wrong.

(some people have their computer systems set up to not show the file extensions..don't know why they do that since cases like this you need to see it.....but if you unhide the extensions, you'll see what you need to change.)
