Why am I not getting the refund advance loan option?

When I get to the end it's only offering the direct deposit option.

If it is not offering you the loan, then you are not eligible.  No one in the user forum can see your information, we do not know why.  Sorry.

Refund Advance eligibility

Here are some of the eligibility requirements to qualify for a Refund Advance loan:

  • You’re 18 or older
  • Your expected federal refund amount is $500 or more
  • You’re not a resident of North Carolina, Connecticut, or Illinois
  • You’re e-filing your federal tax return with TurboTax
  • Your physical address is listed on your tax return. Your address must be located in one of the eligible states and can’t be a PO box or prison address
  • You’re not filing one of these tax forms: 1310, 4852, 4684, 4868, 1040SS, 1040PR, 1040X, 8888, or 8862
  • You aren’t filing on behalf of a deceased taxpayer
  • You must report income on a Form W-2, 1099-R, or Sched C
  • You must open or have an existing Credit Karma MoneyTM checking account1. If you previously opened a Credit Karma MoneyTM checking account and that account has been closed, you will not be eligible for Refund Advance.

Im having the same issue. I’ve looked at all the help options and so far nothing. Spoke with someone yesterday and they couldn’t figure out the problem either. I’ve been able to get an advance the past 3 years. She said that even if I’m not eligible it would still give you the option to apply so it didn’t make sense to her  why it wasn’t showing up. The only thing she could suggest was clearing everything and starting over. I would prefer not to do that.

Exact same issue,  I cleared it out and still no option, I meet all criteria and I have never not had the option, never been denied and the CK account is still active. I think Turbo tax needs to admit there's a glitch. Several people on FB have complained about this issue, how they had to switch to the free version of TT and mess with it to get the option. Please fix the issue.

Thanks, been a customer for almost 10 years.. why so Many issues?????

This will be my last year using TurboTax. There is a new problem every year. I’ve tried to be patient but customer service doesn’t seem to know the answer or is able to help so I don’t see any reason in staying. Unfortunate since I’ve been a customer for the past 8 years.

My final time chatting with a person, she stated I'd your tax credits are more than your income you won't qualify,  I said I wish my  credits were more lol could you imagine.. all the things they said weren't factual same taxes as last year, I made more money but only 5k more. So I think there's a income threshold that the employees don't know about, but the bank does. 🤔

If you currently have an active Credit Karma account, have you tried going through it to link to your TurboTax account?

From the Credit Karma site, under the More menu, you can click on Taxes to get started with filing your taxes on TurboTax.

By clicking the Taxes button, you can create or login to an Intuit account and link it to your Credit Karma account.

Here's more info on Linking TurboTax and Credit Karma.

Hi,

My TurboTax and Credit Karma are already linked, the issue is when I get to the part if paying,  the next portion is to ask if I would like to take the tax advance,  I don't get that option but it shows and says I will be using my credit karma debit card for direct deposit, it's missing a step, credit karma nor turbotax knows the answer so they are all just guessing, this is an issue for many people

Try closing TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies, and reopen TurboTax.

Are you getting the option?

You have replied on at least 3 post giving the same information, and everyone tells you they meet all the criterias given from turbotax. It's okay to say, you don't know instead of saying the same generic response. Even turbotax does not know why people who would normally qualify and have all their documents as proof. Several if the workers have said, hmm idk why you don't have the option to even apply.

Well the only option for me was to create a new account and I had no problem getting my advance. Ridiculous.....clearly there is a problem on TurboTax's end.

Did you owe money on a fed or state level? I heard owing money to irs or like unemployment could get your refund advance denied. But to not have the option at all maybe theres a new auto verifying system🤷🏿‍♀️

I agree so I did it earlier and saw the option, but had to clear it out and restart from beginning now it won't give me the option. So I'm gonna clear and restart again to see if it shows up this time , because that option is always available.

Same is happening to me. I've filed with Turbo tax for 7 years. Always received the refund advance. It is just not giving me the option now. It's crazy

It works if you delete your info and restart, same day I posted, I started over and it gave me the option, so unfortunately you have to do it all over again, but it does work!

I am sorry I’m getting the same issue. I’ve got the refund advance for years ever since I started offering it and now this year didn’t show as an option. When I filed this was the only reason I used TurboTax so this year will definitely be my last

I don't know why they told you that because thats not true. I made just about the same this past year as the year prior and was able to apply for the refund advance with no issue. This year was a no go. I have never had a issue getting the refund advance before in all the years its been offered. My Credit Karma account has been current also. When I searched up Turbotax issues with credit karma refund advance in the Turbo Tax help area, it stated to contact Credit Karma. I contacted Credit Karma and they said I needed to contact TurboTax as they have nothing to do with issues in regards to the refund advance.

Continuing to post this same comment isn't helping. No one has said they've been denied so why keep posting it? This is obviously a glitch with Turbo tax because no matter what I did it wouldn't give me the option of an advance. But when I made a whole new account with a different email but same information it approved me for a refund advance of 3k. The problem is definitely turbo tax system not the user.

Make a new account with a different email. I did and it gave me the refund advance option
