TurboTax gives you an estimate direct deposit date only. TurboTax does not take into account the possible delays of the IRS and calculates the 21 days from acceptance as the direct deposit date. For most taxpayers, this estimated date will not be correct as there are multiple issues that can cause a delay while your return is being processed by the IRS. The best way to get an accurate direct deposit date is to use the Where's My Refund tool on the IRS website.

To track your Federal refund, visit the Where’s My Federal Refund? site here: https://www.irs.gov/refunds. Updates are made daily, usually overnight. You may also download the IRS2Go app to check your Federal refund status. You can track the status of your state return by following the directions in the following TurboTax FAQ.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/refund-status/help/how-do-i-track-my-state-refund/00/25571

Note: You will need your social security number, filing status, and refund amount in order to track your refund.

If after tracking your refund using the Where's My Refund tool on the IRS website, you see that your refund has been approved and sent to your account, remember today is a holiday. Banks and government offices, such as the IRS are closed today so no refunds will be deposited today. Allow up to 5 business days (excluding holidays) from the date that the IRS released your funds.

@Go blow  First, to check if your return was filed, check your e-file status. If no status is showing then the return was not completed and submitted.

If you don't see a status, go through the TurboTax File section again. Be sure to go all the way to the end and select Transmit my returns now.

You must select that button to electronically send your return to the government.

Once you've done that, the next thing you should see is a Transmission Successful screen. This means your return is on its way to the government agency.

Your e-filed return will remain in pending status until the government either accepts or rejects it.

If your return does show a status, then be sure when checking your status on the IRS  Where’s My Federal Refund? site, that you are entering only your Federal refund amount. This can be found on your Federal form 1040, line 21a. If you paid any fees out of your federal refund, use the refund figure prior to the deduction of he fees. Also if you filed joint, be sure to enter the filers name that appears first on the return.

To track your State refund, see the link below:

How do I track my state refund?

Did you file your Federal and State return together? If your federal did show a status but nothing for the State, you may need to go back in to complete it. If they were not filed together, the State cannot be e-filed until the IRS "accepts" your return.

To do this, log back into your Turbo Tax account and click take me to my return then follow the filing prompts from there.

For assistance with this, you can call TurboTax and speak with an agent.  TurboTax customer service/support does not have a single phone number but has many different phone numbers based on the type of platform used.  So that we can direct your call to the best person/department to help you:

  1. Click on this link: Contact Us

  2. Select your TurboTax platform.

  3. Ask your question / state your problem.  Do NOT use the word "refund' or you will get a phone number for tax refunds.

  4. Click Submit.

  5. On the next screen, choose the Call option and follow the instructions.  You will be given the approximate wait time.

You'll get a toll-free number to a TurboTax expert who is specially-trained to handle your particular issue.

Or for the IRS:

How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)?

Note:

You will need to follow the prompts in order to speak to an IRS agent. There is a high call volume this time of year.

When calling the IRS do NOT choose Option 1.

Choose Option 2 after you choose the language.

Then Press 1

Then Press 3

Then Press 2, it will then transfer you to an agent.
