How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed

You can amend e-filed returns if they've been accepted; paper-filed returns may be amended once they've been mailed.

If your e-file is still pending, you won't be able to make changes until the IRS either accepts or rejects it. Don't know your e-file status? Here's how to look it up.

Select your tax year for amending instructions:

• 2019
• 2018
• 2017

What tax year?  Which TurboTax program, desktop or online?

2018. Deluxe.  

What year do you need to amend?  Did you use the Online version?  The links above didn't help?  There are several ways to find amend.  Doing a search inside your return should give you a Jump to link or try another way, here's one way....

1. Sign in to TurboTax.
2. Scroll down to Your tax return & documents (you may need to select Show), select 2019 and then Amend (change) return.
   • If you only see the option to amend 2018 or earlier, it's because you can't amend an unfiled 2019 return. Instead, just select Pick up where you left off, make your changes, and disregard the rest of these instructions.
3. Select Amend using TurboTax Online.

If you are using the TurboTax 2018 software installed on your personal computer, when the procedure asks for you to search, click on Search in the upper right of the desktop program screen.  Type in the word amend in the Search box and then click on the Jump to amend link

I am trying to amend my 2018 TurboTax online return. I have saved my original return.  When I log into my return and select to amend, my Federal Refund figure drops to 0.  My Illinois state tax figure goes to $319 tax due althoughI actually received a refund from the state. 
Entering the federal tax section, Wages and Income, Business Items section, Business Deductions and Credits, Visit All, Self-employment health insurance paid, start, continue, update, I am simply taken in a circle of prompts. I am not able to actually update any figures. 
I am at the point of giving up on TurboTax. 

I'm not able to 'jump to' the link to indicate that I'm filing an amended return either.  I'm using 2019 Turbotax Premier.  This is what I see when I search for 'amend':

- amend dependents

- file an amended return for 2015

- how to undo amend

- when can I file an amended return

I've made a copy of the original, filed return.  How do I tell TT that I want to go through the process of filing an amended return?  It's sending me in circles.  It would be laughable except that it's extremely frustrating.  It's bad enough that I have to amend my return due to receiving a form for 2019 in July of 2020.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Amended returns can only be MAILED not efiled. 

Oh, or are you using the Desktop installed program?

Another way to amend is from inside your return.  Open your return,  you might have to select Add A State to get back into an online return.
