Tax Tools is a link within the TurboTax online editions for a tax return.  It is not on the Tax Home web page.  The TurboTax online editions for tax year 2018 have shut down to make way for the 2019 editions which should be available in December.

If you need to complete a 2018 tax return originally started with the online editions then see this TurboTax support FAQ - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-finish-a-prior-year-return-that-i-started-in-turbotax-online/00/26322

If you need to amend a tax return originally completed and filed using TurboTax then see this TurboTax support FAQ - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-to-amend-change-or-correct-a-return-you-already-filed/01/25588

If you completed the 2018 tax return using the online editions but did not file the return -

To access your current or prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

A 2018 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.

Print, sign, date and mail the tax return to the IRS.  Include with the mailed return any forms W-2 and 1099 which have taxes withheld.  Go to this IRS website for mailing addresses - https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-paper-tax-returns-with-or-without-a-payment

There are no penalties for filing a tax return after the due date if filing for a tax refund or there are no taxes owed

You will have to cancel the payment to the IRS.  After the payment is cancelled you can use the IRS payment website to pay the taxes owed on or before July 15, 2020

IRS website for cancellation of a payment information - https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-taxes-by-electronic-funds-withdrawal

  • Once your return is accepted, information pertaining to your payment, such as account information, payment date, or amount, cannot be changed. If changes are needed, the only option is to cancel the payment and choose another payment method.
  • Call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 1-888-353-4537 to inquire about or cancel your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.
  • Cancellation requests must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. ET two business days prior to the scheduled payment date.

Go to this IRS payment website to pay the federal taxes owed using Direct Pay - https://www.irs.gov/payments
