I just received another TT update (2/15/2018), which is good to be current, but what does one do if the tax return is filed before the last TT update & who has liability if this updates results in an error?

Why does TurboTax not notify customers that not all updates have been completed before we file ? Maybe advise that some changes are still pending so we can wait a few weeks before filing ?
The simple truth with any software program is that there is ALWAYS the possibility of an additional update --for some reason. The program does have checks in place to ensure that all KNOWN updates are applied AT THE TIME your return is filed.
In the past there have been rare occasions when a critical problem was discovered and patched late in the filing season. In such cases TTax has provided notification if such a problem might affect returns already filed.
