W-2C received- what do I put in the "amount paid on original return" field?

My employer accidentally coded some of my hours as overtime when they were not, so they issued me a W-2C form. I'm working on my amended return (original return has yet to be processed), but I'm unsure what to put in the "amount paid on original return" field, since I haven't received anything yet and nothing has been processed yet.

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.

  • You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
  • You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
  • Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
  • The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
  • Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
  • You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment

Someone has stolen my identity/social security number, and I've had 2 appointments with my local IRS office to try to get this ironed out. As a result, I haven't had my 2023 tax return processed yet or my 2024 tax return processed yet. Now I have this W-2C form so I'm trying to submit my amended return. This is such a mess and literally none of it is my fault.

I would still wait to file your Amendment until it get's processed. What changed on your W2C?

I would also suggest you Complete IRS Form 14039, Identity Theft Affidavit.
