Turbotax says I have't efiled but I have

I efiled my 2021 IRS return throughTurbotax on April 6, 2022.  I received 2 emails  fromTurbotax on April 6.  First email said my return was in progress.  The second email said my return was accepted by the IRS.  I also checked my return status on the IRS website which indicated the IRS had received my return.

When I looked into Turbotax on April 9, Turbotax tells me I still need to efile?

Why is turbotax not updating with my return status?

Maybe you have a second TT account, or TT is referring to an unfiled state return.

I have only one turbotax account.   And I have no state filing requirement.

Also I printed my return immediately after efiling it.  On the next to the last page it says:

ELECTRONIC POSTMARK - CERTIFICATION OF ELECTRONIC FILING

(my name and tax id)

Federal Return Submitted: April 06, 2022 03:04 AM PST Federal Return Acceptance Date:

Your return was electronically transmitted on 04/06/2022

You haven't said for sure if you used Online TurboTax or desktop software (CD/download), so we're assuming for now that it is an Online return.    By now, the Electronic Postmark page should have now updated when you download a new copy and hopefully shows your acceptance date.

If you're using Online TurboTax, the PDF copy at the Tax Home may not have yet updated.  But there's a workaround.  I'll tell you below how to get the most up-to-date forms at the Print Center inside the return, including the latest electronic postmark page.  You will have to open your online return back up to get to the Print Center inside the return interview.   Here's how:

NOTE:  When you open your return back up, do not make any changes in it since it's already been filed.  If you later have to amend the return, it has to start off exactly as it was when it was originally filed.

  • Log in and at the Tax Home or in the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents" for 2021, look for a link "Add a State."
  • Click on "Add a State."  (you don't really add one.  That's just to open your return back up.)
  • After the return is open, click in the left menu column on TAX TOOLS, then PRINT CENTER.
  • Then choose "Print, save, view this year's return."
  • The next screen should offer some options:  "Just my tax returns", or "include government worksheets (optional)", or "include government and TurboTax worksheets (optional.)"
  •  The latter has the most pages.

NOTE:  Remember all PDF tax documents and tax data files are very sensitive files, since they contain your personal ID info, financial data, and possibly bank account numbers, etc.  Be sure to store them safely and securely to guard against computer theft, hacking, etc.

I use the desktop download of Turbotax deluxe on a Macbook Pro. I have used Turbotax delux downloaded for the past 12 years with no problem until now.

My issue described in other posts persists.   My printout of my return shows my return transmitted.  I have turbotax emails showing the return transmitted and accepted by the IRS.  The IRS website for checking refund status shows my return accepted.

But Turbotax on my laptop shows that I have not transmitted the return to the IRS.

I've seen a few other desktop users report a similar situation with desktop TurboTax not properly recognizing the efile status, and I think most of them were using the Mac version, too.   I don't know what's causing it.   It's not a widespread problem at this time, or we'd likely be seeing more posts on it in this user community.   One user said his TT for Mac showed the Federal return as still rejected, but the State return as accepted, even though user had gotten both acceptance emails.

I don't even know if the folks at TurboTax Support know that some users are experiencing problems with TurboTax not identifying that they had efiled and been accepted.  Or maybe they do know if some folks have been calling in to report it.    Here's how to reach TurboTax Support by phone:
