Trying to submit my e-file taxes, it says I’m trying to submit 2 tax returns with the same SS# - I’ve only recently submit bank acct info to IRS for COVID-19 deposit

I followed your link as provided, however it  only lets me “amend” our 2018 taxes! Is that correct? My 2019 on TurboTax is waiting for submission, I have all figures, signatures, and acceptance - but keeps going saying “can’t submit duplicate filing with SS#”

When you registered for the Stimulus Package, you are basically filed a simplified return.  The registration for the Stimulus Package was for folks who had no filing requirement.

Amending your return means filing a new form, 1040X. You should not try to amend your return until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund or your payment has cleared.  Amended returns do not “catch up” to your original returns and replace them.  They are processed as two separate returns.
