Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don’t enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Then press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Was your e-filed tax return accepted by the IRS?
Use this TurboTax website to check the status of an e-filed return and if it was either accepted or rejected - <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/">https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/</a>
How did you elect to pay the taxes owed? Was it by direct debit from your bank account or were you going to pay by check?
Hasn't the IRS sent you a letter for it yet? Maybe your bank routing or account number was wrong. Some banks use different numbers for deposits and payments. Or could you have put down a different account to take it out of?
If you still need to pay, <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.irs.gov/payments">https://www.irs.gov/payments</a>
I have received no communication from the IRS, but when I tried to make the payment from my checking account, I got a message that my checking account number was invalid - what!! So I changed the payment to come out of my savings account and it was accepted. So weird - I'll be calling the IRS because I don't want to be charged any penalties or fees!
Do you have a telephone number for the IRS that I can call to discuss this with them?
