I'm hoping someone can help me because I'm getting desperate!
I filed my 2021 Tax Return pretty early (February 12). I had to mail my return to Austin, TX as I got married in September 2021 and my husband is British. I normally file electronically / direct deposit through Turbo Tax and have never had any issues. However, because I had to mail my forms out and my husband's ITIN application papers, I am pretty certain my paperwork was lost.
I have tried contacting the IRS and using the 'Where's my Refund' tool which always leads to a wonderful answer of 'No Refund found'. I've tried calling, but no luck as you just speak to a robot who asks the same questions as the survey. I'm really hoping someone can help me - it's so frustrating and I don't understand why we have to mail paperwork in when communication is so much more clear when conducted digitally.
MAILED RETURNS
IRS link pertaining to processing of 2021 returns:
It can take weeks (or a LOT longer since the IRS is severely backlogged) for anything to show up on the IRS site when you mail a tax return.
If you mail a tax return (or a payment) to the IRS, it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know it was received.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.
TurboTax will not know anything about your mailed return, and will continue to show “Ready to Mail” on your account. TurboTax will not know that you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox. TurboTax does not get updates on mailed (or e-filed) returns.
When the IRS opens its mail and begins to process mailed returns you can check the status on the IRS site. https://www.irs.gov/refunds
State returns have to be mailed to the state.

If you are wondering if you should send your return again——the IRS does not want you to file a second time. Putting two tax returns into the system at the same time can lead to confusion and even more delays. If you did not use tracking and do not know if the return was received—-you have to make your own judgment
Thank you! I am naturally a thorough person, and sent all the items you listed so perhaps it really is just extremely delayed. Hindsight is 20/20 because I definitely would've used a service that says if the post was received. Thank you.
I never received mine either and it’s December 4, 2022. TurboTax said they deposited it to my account but they did not. Still waiting.

TurboTax does not receive any kind of tax refund, federal or state.
If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.
For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/
