Ok I know this may sound ridiculous but I need to ask, how do I find out if I received the EIC in my tax return? I've looked in my DOCs but I'm not finding it.

Is it a Form 1040A or 1040EZ?    To look for the EIC (Earned Income Credit) :

On a 1040A, look at line 42a.
On a 1040EZ, look at line 8a.

If you haven't yet filed, you can preview your 1040, this way:

  • Log in and open your return.
  • Click at the top on MY ACCOUNT, then choose "View Tax Summary."
  • In the Tax Summary screen, click at the top on "Preview Form 1040."

For an unfiled return, using the steps above.
If it shows you a Form 1040 instead of your 1040EZ, then look at Line 66a.

Or if you already filed, download or print out a copy.  If your efile status is "pending", you can't print it until the Federal return is "accepted."
