How do I change my bank account to get stimulus money
The anticipated stimulus check details are still being worked out by the government at this time. We do not have information on how or if you will be able to update direct deposit information with the IRS. Once things are finalized we will be able to provide more guidance. You can also stay updated by checking back on the following links.

If you moved you will want to update the IRS about any applicable address change you may have had since you filed your most recent tax return. Please refer to Update My Information for more information.
I need to change bank information so I can get stimulus check cause I no longer have this account but I read that turbo tax will have something where people that did taxes with you will be able to change bank info
The Department of Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online. Once we have more information, we will be able to provide more guidance. You can also stay updated by continuously checking the following links.

The IRS is committed to helping you get your Economic Impact Payment as soon as possible. The payments, also referred to by some as stimulus payments, are automatic for most taxpayers. No further action is needed by taxpayers who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees.
See if you are eligible for an Economic Impact Payment.
If you are eligible, use our guide to figure out which IRS tool you should use to get your payment.

@penny59 You just posted "yes" to a thread that already had posts from multiple people. We have no idea what you are saying "yes" to. Is there something you need help with? If so, please give us a complete question or a complete sentence so we know how to help.
Before the possible second stimulus check, have we figured out how we can change the bank that the direct deposit will go into? The thread doesn't seem to address any of the questions. My bank is no longer the bank and I've moved since. I want to make sure the payment doesn't get lost in limbo.
@always28smiling Congress has not voted for a second stimulus check. IF they do, then you can pay attention to the national news and find out how to change your banking information with the IRS if you need to. Or if and when there is a secons stimulus check, TT will probably be able to give you a link to whatever IRS site allows you to change banking information. But, no, there are no guidelines now. If you need to change your address with the IRS you can do that now by sending in a change of address to the IRS.
Your banking information cannot be changed after your tax return has been filed and accepted.
Banking information does not go from TT to the IRS until you file your 2020 tax return and it is accepted. You enter/change banking information in the FILE section before you file your 2020 return. Changing it on the TurboTax site does not do any good until you file your return. If they manage to send out stimulus checks before you can change your information, we hope the IRS provides a way for you to change it with the IRS. If your check goes to a wrong or closed account, it will be sent back to the IRS and then the IRS will mail a check to the address on your tax return.
@winterfleur Did you post "yes" to this thread for a reason?

The stimulus payment will go to the account you entered for direct deposit on the 2019 tax return. The direct deposit information cannot be changed. If the account is closed the IRS will send the payment by mail or on a debit card.
Go to this IRS website for stimulus information - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/treasury-and-irs-begin-delivering-second-round-of-economic-impact-payme...
Go to this IRS website to check the status of your payment - https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment
If you do not receive the second stimulus payment on or before January 15, 2021 and you are eligible it will be entered on your federal tax return, Form 1040 on Line 30.
The Form 1040 has not been finalized and needs to updated to include the 2nd Economic Impact Payment.

@Micat600 Your information has been removed for your security. You will need to contact the IRS to change your information. If the payment was sent to the wrong account, the bank will refund it to the IRS, see Full Press Release. Please visit Get My Payment Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.
While the IRS is exploring options to correct these payments, if you have not received your full payment by the time you file your 2020 tax return, you may claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your tax return.

As stated on this IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-on-their-way-visit-irsgov-instead-of-calling
The IRS cannot change payment information, including bank account or mailing information. If an eligible taxpayer does not get a payment or it is less than expected, it may be claimed on the 2020 tax return as the Recovery Rebate Credit.
If you do not receive the stimulus payment by January 15, 2021, you can enter the stimulus payment that you were eligible to receive on your 2020 Federal Tax Return as a tax credit.
