How did you file a Washington state tax return? Washington has no state income tax.

"should have filed in California"

Are you saying that you did not file in California? Amending means making changes to a tax return that you filed. If you did not file a California tax return, then you have nothing to amend. You just file your California tax return now.

In 2024, what state did you live in? What state did you work in?
