My refund was accepted 01/29, its now April and WMR still shows as "still processing"?

I received a letter stating that I am under a 60 day review over a month ago, I called IRS and they said I don't need to do anything. Why is it taking so long and is anyone else stuck like me?

Guys, I'm still waiting also. Accepted 02/08. I've been filing a long time and I've never seen a year like this. They have antiquated systems, the P.A.T.H. Act delayed many returns (those are the people who really depend on their refunds), and to be honest, from all of the research I've gathered so far, there seems to be even more of a delay for those who verify their identity AFTER they successfully verify. Single parent here. This will be the last time I get a refund because I'd rather owe them than go through this ever again.

I am there with you (still). I got a rep. today who admitted what I said previously--backlog is mainly post-ID verify people.

Oh wow, that's awful. I called them today and because of my past experiences, decided to let them know I was going to record the call. They immediately hung up on me! I contacted my Senator and am now going thru that process.

Yes, many, many people are in the same situation.

The IRS is taking a closer look at so many returns this year. However, they are still understaffed, so refunds have been delayed by months.

You are not alone. This is happening across the country, regardless of the tax prep software or the credits claimed. It is happening to taxpayers at all income levels. It is even happening to senior TurboTax employees.

I know you are frustrated, but these measures are designed to protect you and all tax payers from tax identity fraud.

If it says "still processing" instead of "being processed," then they may have flagged you for verification of your identity. They are failing to send letters. Go thru the Tax Advocacy link on the main page of the IRS website, ask to speak to live person at IRS and they should transfer you.

If your status on Where's My Refund is "still processing," then something is required of you. If it says it is being processed there is nothing required of you. They claimed to have sent me a letter, but I never received the initial letter. They should be able to verify your ID over the phone if that is causing the hold-up. If they won't, call your local IRS office and see if you can set up an appt.  I've been waiting a month now since I verified my identity. Don't know what the hold up is now.

I think part of it also is the P.A.T.H. Act. It bottlenecked the returns. I am still waiting and no update tonight. I did run into a postal employee yesterday who said she went through identity verification last year and it took her six weeks last year after she verified AND while she requested direct deposit, they sent her a paper check. She said that very thing happened to a lot of people she came into contact with....
