After the Refund Advance is deposited the rest of your applicable refund (minus any TurboTax fees) will be loaded on the same Turbo Visa Debit Card as your Refund Advance, typically within 21 days from IRS acceptance. Check your refund status here. If the remaining balance of your refund is less than what you expected please see this TurboTax FAQhttps://ttlc.intuit.com/community/refunds/help/why-is-my-direct-deposited-refund-or-check-lower-than-the-amount-in-turbotax/00/25594.

I would suggest that you call the IRS to see why money is missing from your return. The most common reason for a reduced refund is an IRS refund offset. A refund offset is when an IRS refund is reduced or intercepted because they discovered something incorrect on your return, to pay off delinquent debt, such as past-due child support, outstanding student loans, or unpaid state income tax.

You'll get an explanatory letter from the Bureau of the Fiscal Service if your refund is offset. The remainder of your refund will be processed as usual. An offset shouldn't delay it unless your entire refund was applied to your debt.

You can call the IRS 1-800-829-1040 and follow the prompts for a live representative. The person that you speak with will have direct access to your tax return and be able to provide you with an update.

You will need to contact the IRS for information. It might be easiest to set up an account with them.

IRS Individual Online Account

  • Taxpayers with a Social Security number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number can create or access their IRS Individual Online Account to get information they need to file their return.
  • With an IRS Individual Online Account, people can:
  • View balance owed, payment history and schedule payments.
  • Cancel scheduled payments.
  • Get transcripts.
  • View or create payment plans.
  • See digital copies of some IRS notices.
  • View key data from their most recently filed tax return, including adjusted gross income.
  • Validate bank accounts and save multiple accounts, eliminating the need to re-enter bank account information every time they make a payment.
  • View, approve and electronically sign power of attorney and tax information authorizations from their tax professional.
