Since you failed to enter the 1095-A form on the original return the IRS is allowing you to correct this mistake ...

The IRS uses LTR 12C (see upper right corner of your letter) to request Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit. It’s required when someone on your tax return had health insurance in 2016 through Healthcare.gov (or a state Marketplace) and took the Advance Premium Tax Credit to lower their monthly premium. Form 8962 is created by entering your Form 1095-A (received from your Marketplace) in TurboTax.

We'll help you enter your 1095-A in TurboTax and create (or correct) Form 8962. You’ll also be able to review an updated page 2 (needs to be included in the response to the IRS) of your 1040 or 1040A for any change to your refund amount or the amount of tax you owe.

It’s important to remember the following:

  • Read the details of your IRS letter carefully and follow the instructions provided in it.
  • Only print and send the forms requested by the IRS in your letter
  • Sign into Turbo Tax
  • Scroll down to the timeline and click on 2017
  • Click on "add a state" to open the tax file.
  • Click on the Federal Taxes tab and then the Health Insurance tab
  • Answer the questions about your health coverage

Select Yes, "Was anyone enrolled in any of these less common plans in 2017?" to enter your 1095-A and generate an 8962 form.

Hello I am in the same situation. I already faxed my paperwork on February 16 to 1 800 number on the form. How before the IRS receive my faxed paperwork and how long before we can expect a refund? Also will this delay our state taxes?

No it will not delay the state and expect this to take 9 weeks or more to complete.

Yes. It will. It's been 5 weeks still no state refund from S.C.

State returns are processed on their own time tables ... check your state's site ...

I've never had to wait no more then 10 days for my state refund.  Now that I've received a letter for IRS about my 1095 form , it's now over 5 weeks. The S.C Treasury department confirmed that.

Well I'm in GA and when I called the state department yesterday about my state refund they told me that it had just been approved but when I called about my federal they say they haven't even received my fax as of yet and I faxed it on February 16. Like really how long do it really take to receive a fax and put the information into a computer.

They told me 3-4 weeks on 2-22-18.  On 2-28-18 they told me 8 weeks now from the time you fax.

That's exactly what they told me about my federal. When did you fax your 1095 and have they received your fax as of yet? I just want to know they received them.

Sorry but  you are just one of thousands who failed to enter the form 1095-A on the original filing so they get thousands of faxes to process so your return may take weeks to complete as they have indicated ... but the good news is that prior year history on this shows that returns are usually processed faster than they predict so don't spend it till you get it.   In the future, if you have insurance thru the ACA Marketplace then wait for the 1095-A form so you don't have to go thru this again.

@lem1132  I just called and they still say they haven't received my fax or scanned in my papers. This seems crazy to me. It really shouldn't take that long to receive a fax and start processing the paperwork. I see people who sent after us getting their DDD as of March 7. Guess there is hope.. Finger crossed

@ana09e Im really hoping by the end of the week they will at least say they received it. I will hate to wait for 6-8 weeks just to be told they never received my papers and to mail them.
