If the bars are gone on wmr with tax topic 152 am I under review?

I'm asking bc there is nothing that says I'm under review and receiving a letter, to call the irs, or any other msgs.

Because of a discrepancy on our return we were under 60 day review with a hold on refund. I called and the guy helped us get off hold and review by allowing us to amending it later. That was 3/3 and we have a ddd for Mar 21.

Topic 152 is just a generic code that means your tax return is still being processed by the IRS. When they are finished, your status will change to approved and an estimated direct deposit date will populate on "Where's my Refund".

Here is a link to the IRS website on this topic:

According to the IRS, when you see 152 on your refund status that generally means: "they are processing your Tax Return".  Once the IRS has finished processing your return and it is not rejected, the status will update to accepted and they will give you an estimated date for your refund.

The bars can take anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks to update.

If you claimed EIC or Additional Child Tax Credit, the IRS usually begins issuing tax refunds on these returns in late February.

what if you have two bars and they disappear and now you have the code 152 what does that mean when the bars go away and then you get to the 152

No need to worry. Tax topic 152 refers to your refund information. Once the IRS has received your return, they can sometimes post this code notifying you of the usual 21-day timing that it could take to receive it.

Please refer to the following IRS article.

Here is another article that will provide more information on refund timing.

What does it mean when the bars disappear from where’s my refund and you get a message saying it’s still processing and that you will get a date when available?

Your status on the WMR (Where's my Refund) will change throughout the processing of you return. Nobody but the IRS can give you correct information for your status. TurboTax does not receive any updates for the tax returns after we get notification that the return has been accepted. You can click here to see a chart with estimated refund dates based on the date your return was accepted by the IRS. Some 2019 Federal Refunds will be delayed due to the Path Act. Please click here for more information.

Tax Topic 152 simply means that your e-filed return is being processed and that the government hasn't approved or rejected it yet. Sometimes return status does not update for several days or even longer. The IRS issues more than 9 out of 10 refunds in the normal time frame: less than 21 days. However, it’s possible that some tax returns may require further review and could take longer.

I see tax topic 152, processing. But received a letter stating IRS is verifying return. 60 days wait. Nothing specific as to why it’s being verified. Also no number to call on letter. Very worried.

If you are needing to reach out to the IRS in regards to the letter received, please see the below.  Additional verification doesn't automatically mean an audit.

Call the IRS:  1-800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info).  Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.

Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".

Then press 3 "for all other questions."

Then press 2 "for all other questions."

- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don’t enter anything.

- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Then press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.

It should then transfer you to an agent.
