I submitted an amendment to my return a month ago, but it's not found in Where's my Amended Return. What should I do?

@DoninGA per the IRS, the amendment should appear on the WMA tool in about three weeks. They have invested a lot of money over the past two years in improved scanning equipment from the $80k Inflation Reduction Act money.  However, the expected time to process the return is "8-12 weeks" but in some instances could take up to 16 weeks.  According to the IRS dashboard, they are currently working on May amendments, which is about 12 weeks.

What year is the amended return for?

Was your original tax return for that year finished processing before you filed the amended return? If the original return showed a refund, did you get the refund?

Did you e-file the amended return or file it by mail?

If you e-filed the amended return, did you get an email from TurboTax saying that the e-file was accepted?

If you filed the amended return by mail, did you use a tracking service such as certified mail? Did you get confirmation that it was delivered?
