I'm a bit frustrated right now. I'm trying to be proactive and get all my taxes done and taken care of.
I'm getting divorced so we filed "married filing separate" this year for the first time.
My taxes are very simple and straight forward. My soon to be ex wife and I filed at the exact same time, and hers was "accepted" within minutes. Mine has been stuck in "pending" limbo for days.
Speaking with others that have done their taxes as well, they told me, they got accepted within hours.
I haven't been accepted or rejected... just "pending".
Why is mine taking longer to process when it's actually more straight forward than my soon to be ex wife's?
All I keep getting from Turbo Tax is "wait 24-48 MORE hours.
Both State and Federal are saying "pending".
I would sure like some information on this.
I read if I used Turbo Tax's free service, it can take longer... but my ex used the same service and hers was accepted right away.
What gives?!
Are you in a Community Property State? If so, MFS returns must be filed by mail. (Is your ex in a different state?)
@Justind3482 Unfortunately all you can do is wait. There apparently is some extra review being performed, and you will be informed when the return is accepted or rejected. This Help Article explains more: Why is my return still pending? - TurboTax
Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet. The IRS doesn't share your information with us so we don't know why your return is taking longer to be accepted.
