I am looking for my 2015 taxes return

where can I find my 2015 taxes that I done with turbo tax.  I received a letter from my state taxes that I owe them back taxes of year 2015

If they still have it, it will be in the pdf file after the federal return.  They only keep the last 7 years.  So you should always download the pdf each year when you are done.

If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2023 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2023. I had to go though about 12 screens.

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups.

Oh, for a state tax due not paid.  Your only proof of payment is your bank statement or credit card showing the payment coming out. Turbo Tax only passes your bank account number to the state for the state to take it out of your account. But most states do not let you pay by Direct Debit so you have to mail in a check or go directly to the state's website to pay.  And you can not have a state tax due deducted from a federal refund.  

 

Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbo Tax logo. If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay. Read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps.

TurboTax only maintains online tax returns for the past 7 years.  The 2015 online tax return will not be available.

I checked my "Online" test account...(that goes back to 2013)

 

Right now only 2017 and later PDF files are available.

....so now they must be including 2023 in that 7-count.

I can still get each .taxyyyy datafile back to 2013, but unless someone has the desktop software already installed MANY years ago, they wouldn't be able to open it now .
