You cannot add your BF's W-2 to your own tax return.  And...if your BF has

over $4200

of income you cannot claim him.  He just files his own tax return and you file your own tax return--you are both Single--unless one of you has children--in which case the one who has children may be able to file as Head of Household.

I am head of household and his w-2 just came in. I tried amending. Went to his name. Touched edit then I answered all the questions. It never gave me a chance to put his w-2 in I’m guessing it’s because he didn’t make over 4,700 this year? Is there something I need to do?

You keep referring to "less than $4700."   The amount that you need to be concerned about is

$4200.

You do not enter your BF's W-2 on your own tax return.  You cannot file a joint return with a boyfriend.  Only legally married couples file joint returns.

Already told you that if your BF had more than $4

2

00 of income you cannot claim him as a dependent,  If his income was more than $4200 his name does not belong on your tax return for any reason.  He can file his own tax return and file as Single to seek a refund if he had any tax withheld.

Claiming your BF does not make you Head of Household.  Only a blood-related qualifying dependent would make you eligible to file as HOH.

You might also want to consider that with the upcoming stimulus checks----someone who is claimed as a dependent does not get one.

Am I Head of Household?

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your filing status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.

IRS interview to help determine who can be claimed:
