You should wait to file your amended return until you get the refund from your original return.
Even if your original return has been accepted by the IRS, it's still possible that the IRS could change your refund or balance due on that return.

But you should wait to Amend until you get the first refund. The IRS might change your return. Then the amended return is only for the difference you get back or owe.
