how does one update the direct deposit bank. on step 1 on the file section, it does not allow you to do so.

there is a box that says "this account information is correct and is where i want my refund deposited" but that is the wrong account with no option to modify

Assuming you haven't yet filed, then in the FAQ below it looks like the deposit change is done on the Step 2 screen "Your refund/payment info".  See this FAQ on the additional steps to take:

It should have shown you the deposit info on Step 1 and Step 2 of the File section as you went through it.  It's possible the deposit info transferred in from 2023 if you used the same account last year, but it still should have shown it to you.     Here's how to check the deposit info after having filed:

FAQ:  How do I review the tax payment or federal refund method I chose after filing with TurboTax Online?

Also, did you happen to pay any TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund?   If so, a third-party company SBTPG creates a temporary bank account in your name at an intermediary bank to first receive your refund deposit, and that temporary account at that bank is the one the IRS sends the refund to.   The third-party company then subtracts the TurboTax fees and sends the remainder to your bank (or card) in a second direct deposit.   If you did not use that option, then this paragraph won't apply to you.
