How do I print a prior year tax return without printing all the worksheets? When I print 2020, I get about 17 pages... 2019 or prior, I am getting 200 pages.

I just want to get the regular return filings, not all the worksheets.

Thank you, but what I'm worried about is that I will miss pages unless I got through all 185 pages.  I don't know which ones are "important" and which ones are just worksheets.

The tax return is only the Form 1040 and any other forms or schedules that have an Attachment Sequence Number entered in the upper right corner of the form or schedule.  Most if not all of these are shown directly below the Form 1040.

Just select the pages you want to print using the Print icon on the PDF viewer.

Need to prepare a prior year return? Go here instead.

First, make sure you're using the same TurboTax account (with the same username) as in prior years. Otherwise, the below instructions won't work.

If you're signing in for the first time this year, we may ask you some questions before you get to the Tax Home screen where you can access your prior year returns.

To get your prior year return:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account here if you're haven't already.
  2. Select Documents from the left menu.
  3. Use the drop-down menu to choose the tax year you want and then select Download tax PDF.

You can also access your prior year returns like this:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account here if you're haven't already.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom and select Your tax returns & documents.
  3. Select the year you want, then select Download/print return (PDF).

If the year you're looking for isn't there, it might be in a different account. Go here to find all of your accounts, one of them should have the return you're looking for.

The original question is good and the responses not so good. It should not be required that the customer know, or have to figure out, what needs to be printed for a complete return. The option to print a mailable return should be available for both Federal and State returns.

In the same vein, the choice to "Print Required Forms" should include estimated tax payment vouchers if the customer asked for them to be prepared. This latter issue should be considered a bug, and it's a reason I hesitate to recommend TT to others.

In the FILE section, when you choose 'Mail my return' instead of 'Efile my return', and then select 'Preview' or 'Print'  you'll get only the pages required to be mailed.

When you later choose 'Save' or 'Print' (not in the FILE section) you get options on which forms to include in the PDF created.
