How do I know if there is a hold on my tax return?

I filed last month and still haven't gotten my return.

You will need to track your return to see what stage of processing it is currently in. TurboTax tracks whether your tax return as been accepted or rejected, and gives an estimate on when you can expect to receive your tax refund.  Please see the following TurboTax FAQ for information on tracking your federal refund:

You can follow these steps to contact the IRS about your return:  Call the IRS at this number: 800-829-0582 (IRS phone support) Press 1 for English, then enter extension 652.

The IRS issues most refunds in about 21 days, although some returns take more time to review. Due to the PATH Act, if you claimed Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC) and/or Additional Child Tax Credit, the IRS usually begins issuing these tax refunds in late February. For more information on when you will receive your refund, please see the FAQ below:

The IRS 'Where's My Refund' site should tell you when your refund was sent to your bank (or intermediary bank, if you elected to pay your filing fees from your refund).

If the IRS has put a hold on your refund for any reason, you would receive a letter with the details.

Check your Form 1040 to be sure your bank account info is correct.  If it is not, your refund is returned to the IRS and they will mail you a paper check.
