The Federal and State refund process varies and is handled separately. If it has been more than 21 days since your return have been accepted then you may call the IRS customer service at 1-800-829-1040 to inquire the status of your tax return.

If it gets to be more than 8 weeks, you can contact the Taxpayer Advocate. https://www.irs.gov/advocate

Please see FAQ (click on see entire answer), for more information about, Why some refunds are taking longer than 21 days:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3302330

We're unable to track down, research, or expedite your refund, as tax refunds are handled by the government.

The IRS releases most refunds within 21 calendar days after the e-file has been accepted (received), not 21 days from the e-filing date. For mailed returns, allow 5-6 weeks from the postmark date.

Wait 24 hours after your federal return has been accepted before looking it up at Where's My Refund?

If you don’t have a computer or internet access, you can check the status of your refund by calling the IRS at 800-829-1954.

For more information, you can also view Where's My Refund FAQs.

If you opted to e-file and you entered an incorrect account number for direct deposit, the government will mail you a refund check, allow 5-6 weeks from the postmark date.

If you still haven't received your refund or your refund is less than you expected, it's  possible you may have a Refund Offset.

For questions on state refunds, use your State Refund Lookup tool.

If it's been more than 21 days since your return was accepted, we suggest calling the IRS to inquire about your refund.  Go here for tips on reaching a live IRS agent when you call.

Keep in mind, if you claimed the EIC (Earned Income Credit) or ACTC (Additional Child Tax Credit), the IRS expects the first of these refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards by the first week of March.
