Hello, the IRS sent me a letter to verify my identity, but I haven't received it. I verified my identity through ID.me, but it was not accepted. Since I am currently abroad, I cannot go to the branch. I mailed my 1040 and W2 forms five weeks ago but haven't heard anything back. I am unable to reach customer service at the IRS. Can anyone help with this?

"I am currently abroad, "

When you return to US, you can visit nearest  TAC Taxpayer Assistance Center in person.

your IRS letter may allow you to verify online.

Getting past ID.me is not considered ID verification for tax filing.
