Hello, I received a 1099 - DIV after filing my taxes. It's not much, but want to know if I need to amend?

Yes, if you have received a 1099-DIV form and haven't reported this on your tax return, you will need to amend your taxes. The Internal Revenue Service considers dividends to be taxable income. So regardless of the amount of your dividend payments, you should report them on your tax return.

If you have already e-filed or mailed the return, when they accept it and you have received your refund you will need to amend that return to make changes (add your 1099-DIV Statement). You will need to send in any forms that caused the need for an amendment (Original 1040 Form, new 1040X Form and 1099-DIV Statement). Print, sign and mail your forms to the IRS.
