You must add the W-2 to your tax return.
If your return has been submitted- please wait - if it's rejected for some reason, you can add your W-2 and re-send the return.
If your return has been submitted and accepted- you will have to amend; the return is mailed; takes about 16 weeks to process. Here are amending instructions:
You need to wait for the first return to either be accepted or rejected by the IRS. If rejected, you can then add the second W-2 and refile the return electronically. If it's accepted, then you need to wait for the refund to be issued, then prepare an amended return, print, sign and mail it in, and wait the 12 weeks for them to process it and mail you any additional refund you may be entitled to.
Please see the TurboTax FAQ below on amending your tax return:
It depends.
You can't just file them. You will need to amend your tax return to include the additional W-2 forms.
If you have filed your return and it has been accepted, you will need to file an amended return.
See the attached link for instructions to help you amend your return.
If you have not filed your return yet, you can simply add the additional W-2 forms into the federal interview section of the program as follows:
Repeat this process to add each W-2 Form.
No, you will need to file an amended return this year to report the late W2. You will need to wait until 2/24 to amend your return if the IRS has accepted your return by that date. Once these two conditions have been met, you may prepare your amended return by:
What if while im waiting for the date to arrive to Amend my taxes i receive my State refund? I need to add another W-2 to my taxes so i dont believe its the right amount
The return cannot be changed at this time, and you should wait until the return is either accepted or rejected. If your return is rejected, you will be able to modify it before you resubmit.
If your return is accepted, you can amend or correct your return if there is a missing W-2. You will want to wait until your original return is processed. Sometimes the IRS makes adjustments there, and you do not want two versions of your return in process at the same time. There is no additional charge to use Turbo Tax to amend your federal or state return.

Tax year 2021 federal amend form should be available by Feb 24th, and you can check that at this list of IRS forms and dates. IRS Forms Available Estimates
All income from all sources for the same tax year must be filed on the same tax form.
No, you should not. If you know you do not have all of your documents, you cannot file separate returns for each of the documents. You should hold off filing until you receive all of your tax documents.
When you file your return you are attesting "Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have examined this return and accompanying schedules and statements, and to the best of my knowledge and belief, they are true, correct, and complete. Declaration of preparer (other than taxpayer) is based on all information of which preparer has any knowledge."
Filing the return knowing you do not have all the forms would be considered perjury of the above statement.
I filed and got my money already is is possible to file my other new w2 i just got i. The mail

Since you have already filed your tax return, the only option to make any corrections would be to amend your return. For more information, please see the below TurboTax help articles.

Hello! -
Thank you for this comment, it is very helpful.
What should I expect in the instance that I received my full original 2021 return, and then receive a W-2 from an employer whilst still being in the same tax bracket? I should receive an additional refund if I amend the 2021 return, is that correct?
@ChikNOodle Wait until your original return has been fully processed and then amend using a Form 1040X to add that other W-2. Do not assume you will get another refund until you have completed the amended tax form. More income = more tax, so it is possible that by adding income you may owe, depending on how much tax was withheld by the employer.
You will have to file an amendment to include the W2 you received after you filed the tax return.
But wait till the original tax return is processed by IRS before filing the amended tax return.
You may receive an additional refund depending on the income and tax withheld in the W2 received now.

I have an interesting situation. I did not get a W2 from my old company for some qualified ESPP I sold last year. When I filed my taxes, I calculated the ordinary income portion, as usual, and answered that the income was not reported on a W2.
Well, the company decided to generate a W2 that I received last week. The box 1 amount is the identical amount that was calculated on the original return. So while I *could* file an amended return, nothing will change materially, since the income is already accounted for. Do I actually have to add the W2 and file an amended return, or can I just leave things as they are? (Calling the IRS leads to a hang up.)
I have another W2 form that was issued from my Cashapp for Bitcoin but I'm not sure what to do am I able to still file this last W2 form right now or will I have to wait next year when I'm filing my taxes again
@Chan221981 You cannot enter 2021 income on a 2022 tax return next year. If you left out income you received in 2021 when you prepared your 2021 tax return you have to wait until your 2021 return has been fully processed and then file an amended 2021 return. You do not have a W-2 for bitcoin. W-2's come from employers. Be careful about the kind of document you are entering so that you enter it correctly.
