I filed my taxes online and it was accepted already, my grandmother, who can claim me informed me that I did not click something that allows her to do so. How can I change this if my return has already been accepted? She told me not to file an amend but I dont see why. Is she unable to file until after I correct with the amend form?
Also, Turbotax, I really do not remember seeing the question if anyone can claim me.
The question would have been asked in the personal information section of the return. Yes, your grandmother can still file after you complete an amendment.
If you have already filed the return, you will not be able to make changes to it. You will have to amend it. Do not amend until you have determined if the IRS accepted or rejected the return. If accepted wait until either you have received your refund or any payment you have made to the IRS has cleared. If rejected you may go ahead and amend.
You will be able to amend as soon as Form 1040X becomes available. At this time the expected date of availability for the form 1040X is
