Fed and state don't match, whoops.

So this is the first time I did my own taxes. When I entered all my W2 & 1099 info into Turbo Tax I hit submit. Fed was accepted and my state return was rejected for an easy fix of caps letters on my county of residence. When I was looking for the page to make this correction, I noticed that I had selected "no" for previous year tax return being itemized the the answer should have been "yes". After I made the corrections to itemization and the caps letters issue, I submitted but this made my numbers different on my state and fed returns. It lowered my fed return by about $300, no affect to my state return. Do I need to submit and amended version? If so how do I do that?

Yes, you will need to amend the federal return.

Once your return is accepted and the finances are settled, you can file an amended return.
