Due to tax deposit mess from 2012 now straightened out, we have a credit balance. Where can I enter this? No need to amend prior return; this was before we used TT.

You can put your credit balance, to be applied to your 2016 balance due, in Deductions and Credits:

  1. Go to Deductions and Credits

  2. Go down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

  3. Click Start or Update by Estimates

  4. Click Start or Update by Federal estimated taxes for 2016 (Form 1040ES)

  5. Put your payment in the Additional Payments field.
