Do I need to amend in order to receive possible Child Tax Credit?

I filed already before knowing there is a possibility of tax credit.

If you have a dependent child  under the age of 17 and entered enough income from working, the child tax credit is added automatically.   Look at your Form 1040

Look at your 2023 Form 1040 to see the child-related credits you received

You would need to amend if you forgot to take a tax credit.   However, if you entered your qualifying dependent's information, TurboTax would have applied the Child Tax Credit.

You can look at your already filed return and verify whether you received the credit.

But let's say you did enter the dependent, but you answered something wrong and did not get the Child Tax Credit that you should have, you would need to amend, but the amendment software is not ready to file yet, so you would need to come back later to amend.
